Who to turn to

Where you tell your family you would like a hand, and see who is helping. Asking sends a note to your Circle, and you can take an ask back any time.

This page explains how it works. The tool itself is inside your SeniorThrive account.

Who to turn to is where you tell your family where you would like a hand, and see who is helping. The page says so under its own title: "Tell your family where you'd like a hand, and see who's helping."

Where to find it

Open Family & Friends and choose Who to turn to.

How to ask

Under "What would you like a hand with?", tap an area such as companionship, meals, transportation, medical or finances. If none of them is the thing, use "Something else on your mind?", type it in your own words, and tap Ask my family.

Either way it lands under "Help you've asked for", and it shows Sent to family until somebody takes it on. When a family member steps in, their name appears under that area along with anything they have said about what they will do and when. A Message button appears next to them so you can reach them directly.

Your family is told when you ask

This is the part worth knowing before you tap. Opening an ask sends a note to your Circle, so they find out without you having to bring it up. If nobody has picked it up yet, you can nudge the family from here.

That is the design. The hardest part of asking is usually the asking, so the page does it for you.

Being specific helps

The more specific you can be, the easier it is for somebody to say yes. "A hand with my new phone" is easy to picture and easy to fit into a Saturday. A general wish is harder for anyone to act on.

Changing your mind

Any time. Find the area under "Help you've asked for" and tap "I no longer need this", tick the box to confirm, then tap "Yes, remove it". It comes off your list, and your family is no longer asked to help with it.

There is no penalty for changing your mind, and nobody is told off.

Who can see it

Only your Circle. Your asks are never shared outside it.

For an emergency

For a genuine emergency, call the emergency services first. Do not open an app, do not look up a name, and do not worry about the order of things. This page is for the large territory that sits between fine and a real emergency.

Your emergency contacts and health details live separately, in Emergency Preparedness under My Health. That is the page built to be read by somebody else when you cannot speak. This one is built for you to use yourself.
