What is the difference between cancelling and closing my account?

Cancelling stops the payment and keeps everything, reversibly. Closing removes the account permanently after a 30-day grace period. Most people who reach for one want the other.

One is reversible and one is not, so it is worth thirty seconds to be sure which you mean.

Cancelling

Stops the payment. Your account stays, on the Free plan, with everything intact: the check-in history, the Room Check reports, the messages.

Your plan runs to the end of the period you already paid for, then drops to Free. You can turn Essential back on any time and it picks up where it left off.

If the problem is money, this is the one you want. Free never expires.

Closing

Removes the account and the information in it. It starts a 30-day grace period with a banner showing the closing date, and you can change your mind at any point before then.

After those 30 days it is permanent. There is nothing to recover, for you or for us.

Which one do you actually want

Cancel if you are not using it, cannot justify the cost, or want to stop for a while. Nothing is lost and coming back is easy.

Close only if you genuinely want the information gone.

If somebody has died

Please write to us rather than doing either. Families usually want to keep the messages and the photographs, and there is a kinder way through this than a cancellation flow. We will sort it out with you.
