On the Free plan, five scam checks and five companion conversations, each in any seven days.
On Essential, neither is counted at all.
They roll, they do not reset
This is the part worth understanding, because it explains a wall people occasionally hit and cannot account for.
There is no reset day. Each check frees up again seven days after you used it, on its own. Three spent on a Tuesday come back the following Tuesday, and the rest of your allowance is untouched in between.
So if you checked four suspicious letters on Monday, you are not locked out until Sunday. You have one left, and four more arrive next Monday.
What counts as a conversation
A whole conversation, not a message. Starting a new chat with a companion uses one; saying twenty things inside that chat does not use twenty.
Getting this backwards makes the limit sound far tighter than it is, which is why it is worth spelling out.
If you run out of scam checks
The advice does not change because a counter did. If something feels like a scam, it very likely is, and the safe move is the same one the checker would tell you: do not click, do not call the number in the message, do not send money, and ring someone you trust before doing anything at all.
A limit on a tool is never a reason to act on a suspicious letter.
