Both live in the same place. Tap your name in the top corner and open Billing / Upgrade.
Upgrading to Essential
Open Billing.
Choose Essential, and whether you want to pay monthly ($29) or yearly ($290).
Enter your card. You will see the exact amount before you confirm.
Paying yearly is the same as paying for ten months instead of twelve, so it saves $58.
Everything you recorded on the Free plan or during a trial is still there afterwards. Upgrading opens features; it does not start you over.
Changing your card
Same page. Open Billing and update the payment method. Nothing else about your plan changes.
Worth doing before a card expires rather than after. If a payment fails, the charge is retried and you are emailed with a link to update your card.
Who can do this
Only the person whose card is on file, usually whoever set the Circle up. Other people in the Circle can invite members, but they cannot change the plan or the payment method.
If the payer needs to change, for instance if the person handling it can no longer manage it, write to us through the chat bubble rather than cancelling and starting again.
What Billing shows you
Your current plan and charge, your payment method, your billing history, and the options to upgrade, downgrade, or cancel.
Plan changes take effect on your renewal date rather than immediately, and nothing prorates in either direction.
