What does an extra seat cost?

$10 a month each for the first three people, then $5 a month for anyone after that. A professional caregiver is a different seat at $15. Worked examples below.

Written by Brian Fluhr

Essential is $29 a month and covers two people: your older adult and one other person. Everyone after that is a seat.

  • $10 a month for each of the first three extra people

  • $5 a month for each person after that

  • $15 a month for a professional caregiver, which is a different kind of seat

Working out your total

Start at $29. Add $10 for each of the first three extra people. Add $5 for anyone after that.

A family of six:

  • $29 covers Mom and her daughter

  • $10 + $10 + $10 for three more family members

  • $5 for a sixth person

  • $64 a month

The $5 rate does not apply backwards

This is the part people expect to work differently, so it is worth saying plainly. When a fourth extra person joins at $5, the first three stay at $10 each. The cheaper rate applies to the new seats, not to everyone.

If you pay annually

Seats are always billed monthly, even when Essential itself is paid for a year at a time. If you paid $290 up front and still see a smaller monthly charge for seats, that is correct rather than a mistake.

When the charge lands

At your next renewal, not on the day you add someone. The screen shows you the new monthly total before you confirm, so there is no guessing.

The same applies in reverse: removing someone takes them off the next bill, and their access runs to the end of the period you already paid for.
