What roles can people have in my Circle?

Thriver, Family Advocate, Family and Caregiver. The label describes how someone fits in, and what they are able to do.

Written by Brian Fluhr

Every person in a Circle carries a role, shown next to their name in Our People.

The four

  • Thriver. The older adult the Circle is about. There is one, and she can never be removed from her own Circle.

  • Family Advocate. A family member who helps run the Circle. Usually whoever set it up, or an adult child the Thriver invited.

  • Family. Everyone else close to her. A spouse, siblings, adult children, a trusted neighbour.

  • Caregiver. A paid professional. Their seat is bought separately and records each visit.

You may also see green badges on someone, showing a specific job they have taken on, like medicines or rides.

Where the role actually matters

  • Inviting. The Thriver, a Family Advocate and Family can all invite people. A professional caregiver cannot add anyone.

  • Approving a seat. Only the person paying, whatever their role.

  • Seeing her information. Not decided by role at all. The Thriver chooses what is shared, in her own privacy settings, and can change it whenever she likes.

That last one is worth reading twice. A senior role does not unlock her health information. Only she does.
