Playing Match & Go

Match & Go trains visual attention. Find the one matching symbol between two cards. Easy, fast rounds of 3-7 minutes. Free on every plan.

Written by Brian Fluhr

Match & Go is one of the easiest brain games to pick up, and one of the most satisfying. Two cards. Each has a handful of symbols. Between the two cards, there is exactly one matching symbol. Find it, tap it, get the next pair of cards.

It is based on a card game you may have played as a child, turned into a pleasant few minutes of visual attention practice.

Where to find it

Go to ActivitiesBrain Games, and tap Match & Go.

How to play

  1. Tap Play. Two cards appear, each with a few symbols on it.

  2. Look at both cards. Exactly one symbol appears on both.

  3. Tap the matching symbol on either card.

  4. If you are right, you move to the next pair. If not, try again.

  5. Keep going as long as you are enjoying it.

Difficulty

Match & Go is the easiest of the brain games. No strict time pressure. No complicated rules. Clear symbols. Big cards. A gentle introduction for anyone who finds other games frustrating.

That said, it is also surprisingly engaging once you get going. Many people play longer than they planned.

What it trains

  • Sharp eyes. Quick visual comparison of two images.

  • Paying attention. Holding focus on the details without getting distracted.

  • Spotting patterns. Your eye learns to sweep two images for similarity.

How long a session takes

Three to seven minutes, depending on how many pairs you go through. Each pair is a few seconds. Stopping between rounds is always fine.

A few small tips

  • Pick one card and scan through its symbols first. Then look at the other card, one symbol at a time, and check whether each one is also on the first card. Slower than scanning both at once, but much more reliable.

  • Do not panic if the match is not obvious. Sometimes it is small. Sometimes it is in a corner. Take a breath and scan again.

  • If you need better lighting or bigger text, close the game and open your device settings. SeniorThrive respects whatever accessibility settings your device has.

Match & Go unlocks Steady Hands Garden

One play of Match & Go is one of the three requirements to unlock Steady Hands Garden. The others are Pattern Flow and Mini Sudoku. Play each once and the garden game opens up.
